MY REVIEW:

I was stressed out before I read this book. I had a deadline and I don’t like being late with them. This book of devotionals is designed for you to read and study each one at the beginning of each week, hence the 52 chapters, one for each week in the year. Therefore, since I was on a deadline, I had to read this much quicker than the full year.

Chalk-full of names of Christ, this book is coated with hope and encouragement for those who struggle with the many difficulties we all experience in life. Anyone could pick this book up because we all need love and uplifting at some point (or points) in our life.

My favorite part of this book was the Introduction. Holley Gerth specifically mentions that this book is a “come as you are” book. It is for all. You don’t need to be already lodged in your faith, a so-called perfect life, the worst grades, or the least popular in church. This is for all. This very phrase created so much peach in my heart and allowed me to learn and feel that I could have hope in both Him and myself through this devotional and life journey.

Gerth writes in such a way that Christ is now both tangible and relatable for me. Sometimes we often think of Him as far away or another being entirely. But no, He’s right here with us and has so much love for us that it’s sometimes overwhelming to wrap your head around. Her stories of her life as well as biblical examples of Christ’s are very helpful in realizing hope in your life as you flip through this book. She also mentions verses from many translations of the bible as well, creating unity throughout Christianity.

Closing each chapter with a prayer, Gerth brings together everything important and true that was written so that the reader may focus on those words the rest of the week.

Great read! Just wanted to read it with more time so I didn’t have to rush! But what can you do.
