JABBR Introductions!

apper-forties-1

Hello!

I thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves before we begin on this Jane Austen adventure together! Feel free to copy what I am about to say, interact with people throughout the day, or do your own thing! I just can’t wait to virtually meet you all!

Some suggested questions are:

Name. Where do you live. How long have you been a part of the bookstagram community. What Jane Austen books have you already read. Is there a particular book you are most excited about to read. Which Jane Austen character do you identify with the most. What is your favorite book and why. What do you hope to accomplish for yourself during this read. What are some things you’d like me to do for this JABBR.

Again, feel free to introduce yourself however you want! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Here’s me!

My name is Jessica and I live in the Northwestern area of Idaho! It’s been snowing a lot at the beginning of January but now the snow has decided to just stick around for a few more weeks. It’s sometimes nice when the hubs has “snow days” from work so we can just hang out together for a change! I’ve been a part of the bookstagram/blogging community for around 6 months now and I have loved every second of it! I’ve already met some delightful people and friends that I hope I’ll never part with! I have only read Pride & Prejudice so I am equally as excited as you to read the rest and get a chance to reread P&P. With YOU of all people! πŸ˜‰ hehe. My favorite book…I don’t know if I have one. I LOVE Harry Potter (obviously!) and I of course adore the classics. P&P seriously was amazing. I identify the most with Elinor I think from Sense and Sensibility. She’s so quiet and keeps away all her secret thoughts. I’m very much the same way. I don’t often like it when people see what I’m actually feeling. I hope you all enjoy this time very much. Looking forward to hearing from each of you wonderful, supporting people! πŸ˜‰

The floor is now yours!

Favorite book?? Hmm that’s a hard one. I do enjoy the classics like P&P, Little Women & Jane Eyre. But i also love fantasy ilke HP & ADSOM. I hope to accomplish being able to complete all the books during this read.

Hola! Jessica here. I live in a tiny town in NJ and lucky enough to be 15 minutes away from NYC. (Lucky because I get to go to plenty of author signing because of the books stores in that area so I get to go and see some of my favorite authors that do book tours there which I’m pretty happy about) I first started as a Facebook bookish page about 6 years ago, then blogging 3 then decided to try out bookstagram. I’ve had my bookstagram for about a year but kinda got serious into it 6 months ago. I’ve read Pride and Prejudice. After seeing that youtuber from the Lizzie Bennett Diaries a while back ended up comeing across many P&P retelling decided I needed to final read the real deal and see if I would love it and naturally I did. I’ve managed to collect the rest of Jane Austen’s book so look forward to getting to see those. I’m only familiar with Pride and Prejudice characters so if anything I think I’m more like Jane Bennett. I don’t have a favorite book, but I guess perks of being wallflower, the lunar chronically are among my favorite can reread those books and never get tired of them. After all this I’m hoping to finaly get to those Jane Austen books that I’ve always been meaning to.

Jessica you are so lucky to live in an area around author events. I live in Tampa and they have nothing in the way of book signing here. Pride and Prejudice is the first Austen I ever read also. I look forward to rereading Austen with you.

I have never read any of Jane Austen’s books so I thought this was a great chance to see what all the fuss is about! My favourite book is probably Lovely Bones, though I also really like Dark Garden by Margaret Buffie. Hello loves!
I’m Jaz. I’m an aspiring grad student from Georgia (USA.) I started bookstagram…I think March 2016, but didn’t really do much with it until recently. I’ve read all of Jane Austen’s novels, but that was ages ago it seems. I’m excited to reread them with everyone and fall in love with Jane Austen’s writing all over again. I’m most excited to read Emma, since she is my FAVORITE Jane Austen character. I also feel like I identify with her most, since I’m always interested in everyone’s loves lives minus my own. ;D My favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak because it broke my heart in the most beautiful way.
I’m so glad you’re doing this Jessica! I don’t have any suggestions for you, since this is my first time doing something like this. So far, everything is great!

Hello, I’m Jenny. I live in Northwest Missouri. I’ve been a part of the bookstagram community for a little over a year. I have read all the Jane’s novels. I even took a Jane Austen class in college. I have a BA in English literature and a master’s in library science. I’m most excited to re-read Persuasion again because it’s my favorite. Even though Persuasion is my favorite and I do love Anne I think I identity most with Elinor from Sense and Sensibility. I love too many books to pick a favorite. As for what I hope to accomplish I hope to actually re-read all of them. I always says I’m going to re-read them and then I get distracted by a shiny, pretty, new book. I don’t have any suggestions for you either. I’m just glad you’re doing this.

I have read all of Jane’s books more than once but I look forward to reading them with friends for the first time. My other favorite books are The Outsiders by SE Hinton and Blue Castle by LM Montgomery ( I beseech you all to read this book! ). Hello my name is Nicole. I live in Tampa, FL. I started my blog in 2014 but have been on a break from it for a while and am planning to start my reviews again. I have been a serious part of the bookstagram for a few months now. I found it in March of last year but really didn’t get into the picture taking part until a few months ago. My name on instragram is thereadingrebel and my blog is thereadingrebel.wordpress.com. I love to read YA(Fantasy and Sci-fi are my favorites),Romance,The Classics, and Jane Austen(any thing from essays to fan fiction).

I found Jane Austen in 2009 and have been a fan since I read P&P. I have read all her books many times. 5-6 times each at least. My favorites are Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. I have seen a movie version of all the books but I haven’t watched Love and Friendship yet. I am a lot like a mix of Anne from Persuasion and Elinor from Sense and Sensibility. My favorite heroines are Elizabeth,Fanny,Anne, and Elinor. My favorite heroes Mr. Darcy. Colonel Brandon, Edmund Bertram, and Captain Wentworth. I am also a huge fan of the Bronte sisters work. You can’t ask me to pick one.

My favorite book is a tie between Pride and Prejudice because I love the writing. language, characters, and romance and Wuthering Heights because of the writing and because it is like nothing I have ever read. I am looking forward to making new friends and discovering more about Jane Austen’s books with each discussion. I already have pages of notes on S&S. I know some amazing JAFF if you want recommendations. I am looking forward to reading Mansfield Park the most. It is the most underrated of Austen’s novels and I love to see if other people love it like me. Emma is my least favorite Austen and the one I have read the least so maybe I will learn something new from it.

for the readalong it would be fun to watch one of the movies and compare it to the book.
Look forward to getting to know you all and read some Austen.

The live viewing would be so good! Living in all different timezones might be a problem though! You could always just suggest people watch them and set up a post on the movies so people could discuss them there? Compare the movie to the book and swoon over the Austen men πŸ˜‚

Hi Everyone! I’m Chanda and I am from Edmonton Alberta. I am excited to be a part of JABBR and am so happy that I stumbled across it. My favourite Austen novel would have to be Pride and Prejudice (of course) but it is quickly followed by Northanger Abbey. I have read all except for Sense and Sensibility, so I’m very happy that we are starting with it. I discovered Bookstagram in April of last year (@allchanny) but didn’t really get fully emerged in it until lately. I love all of the people I have met and cannot wait to find more lovely people that are a part of this community.

Hello Chandra! I am so excited to have found another great fan of Northanger Abbey! I feel that book is terribly underrated…

Slightly off topic I see quilts and some of your photos on Instagram. They are beautiful. Are you the quilter?

Me too! I think its is so fun and lends a lighter side to Austen.

I am not a quilter, but my mom is! That being said I have been known to help her out and sew on a few bindings and help pin them. πŸ™‚ There is one that her and I made together and it is my one of my favourites.

Hi everyone, I’m Kate! I live with my wonderful family (including 1 dog, 4 kitties, and 8 hens) in sunny California! So far I have only read Pride & Prejudice, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey, although I own multiple copies of all of Jane’s novels. Pride & Prejudice is definitely my favorite! Although I’m also quite fond of Mr. Knightley – and I am super excited to read Emma during this read-along!!! Of all of Jane’s characters, I think I identify most with Elinor Dashwood, or possibly Anne Elliot. My all-time favorite book is Little Women – the March sisters feel like dear friends! But I also love many other classics and historical fiction. I am super excited to participate in JABBR! Happy reading!!! ❀

Hi everyone l am Tracey from Hervey Bay in Queensland Australia….roughly 5 hours north of Brisbane (the capital) with my hubby and 3 kids combined and our Moodle teddy and ragdoll cat KitKat . I am a recent discoverer of Jane Austen please don’t hold that against me lol. I have read P&P, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey and Emma. My fave Austen book would be between Emma and Persuasion. to say l fave a fave character is a tad hard as l relate to them all in some way or another. I am most excited about reading and re reading them all and to get a better understanding of them all, as it was my goal this year to read more classics and more widely than my usual historical fiction. i have been a part of the bookstagram community for a while, l enjoy seeing what other people are reading etc. plus it gives me ideas for my girls to read. l can’t wait to get into all these books

Not gonna lie I had a slight resentment towards P&P because my tutor spent a month studying one chapter and a week on just one paragraph!(When Lizzie first visits Pemberley) So I want to reread if for fun now to see if I enjoy it more before I say which one is my favourite from the two. So many people enjoy P&P so I feel like I should give it a chance without being forced to spend a week on one paragraph πŸ˜…

I promised to not discussion on one paragraph at a time. That is horrible to spend a week’s discussion one paragraph. I am one of the biggest JA fans ever but I couldn’t do that. Maybe a week on a few chapters but not on a paragraph. Let’s hope reading it for fun helps you see what an amazing book it is.

Sorry I’m a bit late on this. I’m Victoria (@victoriavanvlear). I live in Southern California, and I’ve been a real member of the Bookstagram community since November (before that, I only dabbled). I’ve read all of Austen’s books except Lady Susan, so I’m excited to read that one at some point. I probably identify most with Fanny from Mansfield Park, who is quiet but strong and knows her own mind. I love all Austen’s books, but Pride and Prejudice holds a special place in my heart πŸ™‚

Hi! My name is Lindsay and I have recently joined the IG book community within the last year – I feel like I am still on the fringe/learning about it, even at this point. I am currently residing in the Columbus, Ohio area and I have read only one Jane Austen book so far – Pride and Prejudice, which I have re-read several times. I am looking forward to reading other work by Austen and to participate in discussions. This will be a nice break from my job as a science teacher. During this challenge I am hoping to push myself to make time for a “balanced life” that includes making time for my hobbies/interests along with pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Hi everyone! Sorry I’m so late to join in on the introductions – I just moved house this weekend and this have been a bit hectic.

I’m Hana (@bliss2310 on Instagram), originally from Sri Lanka and currently living in Singapore. I think I joined bookstagram around six months ago and I’m still working on making my photos look good πŸ˜‹ I love the fact that Bookstagram brings together so many bibliophiles who would never get to meet in person. I’ve made some wonderful friends and come across many new book recommendations (I’m afraid I’ve been spending more money on books since joining bookstagram 😁)

I read Pride and Prejudice many years ago and loved it. I don’t know why that didn’t prompt me to read any of her other books sooner. The only other one I’ve read is Persuasion, sometime last year. Reading it reminded me of how much I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice that I went out and bought more of her books. I wasn’t able to find Sense and Sensibility at the time and I only ordered it from Book Depository after joining JABBR and I’m still impatiently waiting for it to arrive!

I don’t think I can pick just one favourite book. Among my many favourites are the Harry Potter series, the Anne of Green Gables books, A Suitable Boy and To Kill a Mockingbird (though I did not like Go Set a Watchman).

    Hi everyone!

First I want to apologize for the late post here but I am so excited to jump into this buddy read with you all 😊

My name is Jessica and I live in Pennsylvania, but I call England and Australia my home as well. I have always enjoyed writing and had a travel blog, but bookstagram has inspired me to start another blog! I’ve missed it! I have been a part of bookstagram since September 2016 and I have loved every minute of it! I have met some of the most incredible people, including Jessica who is running this buddy read, and I honestly cannot imagine my life without my bookstagram friends. I have read 4 Jane Austen books: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma and Northanger Abbey, but I am excited to get to reread some of these titles and experience them all over again, as well as reading the rest. I have always loved reading and I pretty much read anything that catches my eye (that happens a lot haha). I have always loved classic literature. I also love fantasy and YA novels, and I am getting into historical fiction so that has been fun. I work in the non fiction section of our library so I am pushing myself to read more non fiction and I have found some fantastic books by doing that. I will say Harry Potter is one of my absolute favorites! I feel like I identify with 3 of Jane’s characters: Elinor Dashwood, Elizabeth Bennett and Jane Bennett. Elinor is very quiet and reserved and I can relate to her in that sense as I am personal and don’t like to show my feelings too much. With Elizabeth, I feel like I can relate to her belief in love. She is also very headstrong, determined, independent and complex, which I connect with too. As for Jane, I feel like I identify with her sweet, shy and sensible manner, as I often am quiet but kind to everyone. With this buddy read, I am most excited for sharing ideas and thoughts with other members of the buddy read and getting to know more people. I am already enjoying reading everyone’s posts. Thank you Jessica for this awesome experience ❀
